Miroslav Aničin: "Establishing a Benefits Management Process"

Benefits do not just happen with delivery. Besides, they rarely happen according to plan. Benefits realization is a process that we must manage like any other process. Benefits represent the value we want to deliver to fulfill initially recognized business need. If it is so important, then why do we lost track of it throughout the project? Try asking your project teammates at some point in project execution why we do this project. No one provides an answer that focused on delivering value and benefits. Most of the participants are instead focused on delivering tangible results (outputs) and on their project tasks. How to move our focus to benefits delivery? How to establish a proper benefits management process, starting with the business needs' articulation on the portfolio level?

Damir Pleško: "Examples of cultural differences in business"

Cultural awareness is a key component when communicating with people in other cultural circles. People see, interpret and evaluate things in different ways. What was considered appropriate behavior in one culture is often inappropriate in another. Misunderstandings arise when we use our cultural meanings to describe reality.
Our experience, our values , and our cultural background lead us to see and do things a certain way. Sometimes we have to step outside our cultural boundaries to understand the impact our culture has on our behavior and increase our mutual understanding and speak the same language.
Collecting information from our colleagues about our behavior is very useful to gain more clarity in communication with one another.
In this lecture, and based on many years of experience and education on cultural differences, we will describe our collaboration with the most common geographies such as the US, India, Arabic world, European countries and, most importantly, the way they view collaboration with us.
The lecture is intended for students from Croatia and surrounding countries and is scheduled in Croatian.
