🐾 Who is Katka?
Katka is a therapy labrador who - in April 2025 - became a full member of the team of the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology "Dr. Mladen Ćepulić" at the University Children's Hospital Zagreb.
💙 Role in the hospital
- accompanies children during radiotherapy, helps them feel safer and more relaxed,
- participates in games and therapeutic activities such as children's darts and polygon games,
- helps children to get through stressful examinations more easily,
- brings emotional support - her presence helps children to open up, laugh and feel less anxious.
🐶 Caring for Katka
Mihael Cerovečki, an occupational therapist employed at the Institute, is Katka's guardian and manager and organizes her work with children on a daily basis, while Žana Salapić, an employee of the Krijesnica association, makes sure that Katka always has quality food ready and prompt veterinary care.
